Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Treatment (1:1)

ABA uses a scientific approach to learning and motivation to teach new skills. It employs evidence-based strategies and interventions to support your child or youth's development for socially significant change. ABA treatment targets 1-3 developmental domains to teach skills and reduce interfering behaviours such as communication, toileting, sleeping, social skills, self-regulation, academics, etc.

Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention (1:1)

Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention (EIBI) is an evidence-based treatment approach based on the principles of ABA. This comprehensive treatment approach focuses on foundational skills, including communication, developing play and social skills, school readiness, self-help skills, and self-regulation skills in managing interfering or challenging behaviours. EIBI uses curricular-based assessments such as the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills - Revised (ABLLS-R) or Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) to identify curriculum learning goals. This service model follows a 6-month service plan for a minimum of 20 hours per week. Research outcomes have demonstrated that children age 6 and under have more significant gains across learning domains consistent with the development of same-age peers.

Challenging Behaviour Assessment and Treatment

A Functional Behaviour Assessment focuses on determining the function of the behaviour or the "Why" a child or youth may exhibit interfering or challenging behaviours. This assessment will identify environmental variables that influence the occurrence of behaviours. It will also identify skills your child or youth may require to learn by replacing interfering/challenging behaviours with adaptive skills to prevent them from occurring.

This service will provide intensive behaviour support and may incorporate safety procedures to stabilize and minimize risks of harm to self and others in the environment. It will address behaviours that interfere with learning or limit access to participating in positive social opportunities.

Behaviours targeted for this service could include but are not limited to:

  • Self-injury

  • Aggression

  • Restricted Diet (limited or selective food intake)

  • Disruptive Sleep

  • Repetitive and Stereotyped Behaviours

  • Severe, Ridgid Routines

  • Elopement
